My name is Shokoufeh Samimi, and I am originally from Iran. I started my undergraduate studies in Business Administration (BBA) in 2005. While I was in Iran, I worked as a Business Manager for approximately 3 years at a trading company that focused on import-export to/from China and the United Arab Emirates while pursuing my university studies. After completing my degree in 2010, I followed my passion for jewellery design and continued in this field for around 2 years. However, I eventually decided to pursue a career that would be more aligned with my academic background, so I chose to work in the international transportation and shipping sector.
After several years of working in Iran and gaining experience in the field of marketing and sales within the logistics industry, I moved to Turkey. From 2018 to 2023, I worked in the logistics field as a Multimodal Transportation Manager in Istanbul, gaining valuable experience.
Subsequently, as my husband found a new job opportunity in Finland, we decided to relocate here.
After moving to Finland, I began the job search process, but finding employment as a foreigner proved to be quite challenging. Therefore, I decided to focus on learning the Finnish language while also refreshing my mind through exercise, spending time with friends, enjoying nature, and traveling more. I love cooking, so I do it often. My friend and I recently hosted a workshop on Iranian cuisine at Arbis in Jakobstad, and we plan to hold more in the coming months. These workshops allow me to share a glimpse of my country’s culture, which I find incredibly rewarding. Additionally, I worked as a trainee in a beauty salon in Larsmo during the summer of 2024.
During this period, I met Paula Erkkilä, CEO of Ostrobothnia Chamber of Commerce, and she provided me with an incredible opportunity. Despite still being in the process of completing my studies in Kpedu, Paula gave me the chance to join Chamber of Commerce as a Trainee.
I am very excited to have the opportunity to collaborate with such an experienced team at the Chamber of Commerce. This new beginning will allow me to gain more experience in areas such as export procedures, industrial systems, and the culture of Finnish companies. It will also undoubtedly open new doors for my future career development.
